It’s said they their love was too strong, and they loved each other so much it distracted them from their duties (hikoboshi, a cow herder let his cows wander the heavens, and Orihime, a princess, stopped weaving clothes) this angered Orihimes father forbid them from ever seeing each other again, but when her father forbid them from ever meeting again, she was heartbroken. Since her father loved her so much, he allowed her to see him on the 7th day of the 7th month once a year if she went back to weaving clothes. During the first time they reunited, they found the river (Milky Way) too hard to cross and Orihime went so despondent that a flock of magpies came and made a bridge for her.
